SWIS
Subsurface Wastewater Infiltration System

This SWIS system was designed by Bill Wilson’s company, Environmental Planning and Design LLC.
The system is designed to recycle wastewater. The first step includes a septic tank, with an anaerobic digester and clarifier.
Next, the water flows through an effluent filter with intermittent dosing to the landscape. This occurs via a shallow subsurface irrigation system.
This system achieves complete polishing and reuse of the wastewater and recovers the water as a resource, and recovers
the nutrient value as a resource, while protecting environmental and public health.

The Mechanical Zone Valves and the Distributing Valve divide up the water and distribute the water around the landscape.
The water is sent to one lateral at a time.
The Distributing Laterals are the pipes that the water runs through to water each of laterals one at a time.

This is the irrigation system that is used on the entire orchard, and in front of the house, which is located on Remy O’Neil’s property.
